Music

The WSCA music program is dedicated to making music a meaningful part of students' everyday life, whether they are beginners or experienced musicians. Students who participate in musical ensembles become part of a tight-knit community where they can hone their craft and be challenged at their own level. Vocal and instrumental ensembles perform twice a year at the Christmas and Spring concerts, as well as producing special events and competing at the regional and state level. Several of our students have gone on to compete with recognition.

Elementary School

At this age, students start to develop beginning skills to play an instrument and to read music. The also learn the basics of music such as melody, rhythm, form, dynamics, timbre, etc. throughout the year.

Middle School

All middle school students take a General Music course as part of their afternoon specials. They also have the opportunity to participate in music electives, including:

  • Middle School Band
  • Middle School Orchestra
  • Middle School Choir

High School

Through the High School music courses, students will explore various genres of music and develop proper musical technique. Students with a special interest in music have several opportunities to participate in advanced musical ensembles.
