The National Honor Society
National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921. Students in grades 10, 11 and 12 are eligible for induction into National Honor Society. The committee bases its selection on excellence in scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
The National Merit Scholarship Program
The National Merit Scholar is an annual academic competition for recognition and college undergraduate scholarships. Students qualify for the program based on their PSAT scores. Since its founding, NMSC has provided scholarship opportunities for over 451,000 students with awards totaling more than $1.8 billion. WSCA has had some 15 students recognized as National Merit Scholars.
